I know I was parked legally, because my tires were fully inside the lines of my spot. The question I have is, did I park like a jerk? I know my side view mirror was hanging over the handicapped spot a bit. I couldn’t go over more, or the person on my right wouldn’t have been able to get into their car. The spots are really narrow. Answer honestly, because if this is a jerk move, I won’t do it again.

nope - I do that all the time since the handi spots are only used a a few hours every month and I’ve got a tinier rig than you.

i’m pretty sure parking in the H.C. would be the dick move. I think the H.C. and striped zone are 16', way more than enough room.
fitting in ADA clearances can be a challenge some times. Just think ramps can be 1:12 max. so every inch up is 1 foot over. a 10' story would require a ramp 120' long and that doesn’t even include all the required level areas for resting or turning.

You’re fine

How come? Was the car partly in your spot?

No doubt, parking in the HC spot is clearly not ok.
Yeah, ramps take up a massive amount of space. Back in architecture school, we had a design studio project which mandated no elevators or wheelchair lifts for ... Reasons ... I guess. I had a compelling reason to have a second story, so I modeled the wheelchair ramp and the building around it. It was MASSIVE, a full 1/3 of the volume of he building. My prof took one look at that model and said, “Oh screw that! Just put in a lift.”

No, but the spots are narrow, and they were at the far left side of their spot, much like me.

I don’t see anything wrong with this. You are clearly within the borders of your own spot. Yeah it’s a little tight, but the handicapped spot here is pretty generous, so even if a rampvan had to slide a little in the lines there would be plenty of room to deploy the ramp and get out easily.
I very much appreciate your consideration though. :)

Good to know! Thanks for weighing in :)

If the spots are super narrow, you can only do the best you can.
I went to a salvage yard the other day that forced me to get uncomfortably close to the line, but when I got out, I found that I was equally close to the other line, and was actually pretty well centered. It was like an unmarked compact spot... at a business that ought to be expecting a high percentage of patrons with pickup trucks.

Drove a ramp van like Toms for a while, I wouldn’t take issue with it

The Home Depot in my town has some of the smallest spaces ever. They barely are wide or long enough for my accord coupe. At a home improvement store...

Home Depots are pretty much all that way, it’s rediculous.

I certainly did what I could do in that spot, but I could’ve gone to another spot farther away. That’s why I wanted to check with Tom to see if the way I parked could cause any trouble. Fortunately he said it was fine.

That’s what Tom said as well. I was glad to hear that.
